JULY 9 FIRST DAY FOR CANDIDATES TO FILE PETITIONS AND NOMINATION PAPERS WITH COUNTY SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT FOR GOVERNING BOARD ELECTION

Seats opening up in Districts 1 and 3; strong political fights expected in both districts

The first day for candidates to file petitions and nominating papers for the Community College Governing Board seats in Districts one and three is July 9.  The election for the seats in the two districts will be held in November.

It is anticipated that there will be fierce political battles over those open seats this fall.  So far, only Paul Chevalier has indicated he is running for the District 3 (Sedona and the Verde Valley) seat.  The current holder was appointed 18 months ago when Al Filarado resigned because of Governing Board operational issues and unfair treatment of citizens in District 3 .

Chevalier is already receiving endorsements and strong support from groups in District 3. The deadlines, as posted by the County Superintendent of Education, appear below.
